This lovely pattern was designed by Mimi Dietrich for her Quilts from the Smithsonian book, released in 1995. It was my first attempt at creating a pointed star (no foundation paper piecing here!) and I was quite pleased with the result. Shoo Fly blocks finish the top. Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, I've brought this quilt out for display. The Sunflower is Ukraine's national flower. Glory to Ukraine.
