A photo I took of fall colors on the Feather River was the inspiration for this quilt. In 2019, I took a class by Denise Oyama Miller at Asilomar and learned the technique called 'Confetti' quilting. It began with a piece of black felt with the main features (sky, riverbank, rocks) sketched in with chalk. I used a cupcake tin to keep track of all the different colored 1/4 inch pieces. Batiks were used exclusively for the tiny pieces. They were sprinkled on creating layers of color & depth. The final step was covering the quilt with black tulle and pinning it like crazy with safety pins. This kept the tiny pieces from shifting while being free motion quilted. I am thrilled with how it turned out!
