The top was pieced and appliquéd by my mother, Barbara Kuhn in the 1950s. The quilting was done by Claire McIver, Barbara Beil and Melissa Cardinet. It is all hand sewn and hand quilted. As a quilt top. this languished in an old steamer trunk of my mother's as she was unable to finish it before her death. I finally layered it with the quilting help of Claire and Melissa, I bound and finished it. You will notice that some of the white background squares are not the same. Mother used cloth from bags my dad brought home from the machine shop where he worked that had contained screws or other hardware. Some times they had holes in them. She washed and sorted out the bags and used the suitable ones for this quilt. The prints came from many sources: leftovers from other household sewing, exchanges with other another quilter from Ohio and some were birthday gifts.
