Roadside Respite

51 x 43

Jean Jurgenson

This contemporary church sits on a rise overlooking a highway in rural Nebraska. It was built as roadside respite for travelers; to relax, meditate, pray, and then get on with their journey. Jean loved the intricate wooden structure. The glass walls were a challenge for her to create. Jean painted the entire background before “constructing” the church.

White cotton fabric, linen, faux leather, cording, Setacolor paint, Tsukineko ink

Painted yardage, machine pieced, shaded with ink, couched cording, machine pieced, machine quilted
