Rhode Island Reds

45 x 45

Phyllis Nishimori

This quilt began when I found some melon shapes that had been pieced on newspaper by my grandmother, back in the early 50’s. Grandma had chickens on her farm in Chowchilla, so I created applique vignettes of her Rhode Island Reds, surrounding them with her handwork. On the back of the quilt, you can see the newsprint…which I copied onto fabric.
