On the Oregon Trail

40 x 55

Aileyn Ecob

Aileyn took a photo of the red autumn sumac on a trip to Oregon. This was near a monument memorializing the settlers who had the courage, or desperation, to make the long trip west. The background is pieced, Ruth McDowell method, and each sumac leaf is hand appliqued. In the photograph, the tips of the leaves were light, so she used bleach to get that effect.
