Hong Kong Taxi

60 x 42

Jean Jurgenson

Jean created this piece from a photo her daughter took from the 14th floor of their apartment on Hong Kong Island. It is called Hong Kong Taxi because Jean’s 18-month-old granddaughter would stand at the window and wait for the red taxi to drive by, then announce it to her mother. Jean was intrigued by the perspective in this photo. When she completed the quilt, it looked very top-heavy. It looked like the upper left building was going to topple over on the viewer. To remedy that visual problem, Jean added the border on the left and bottom.
