Born in Alhambra, CA, Betsy had two rules in life. Say yes to any interesting offer of a job or opportunity; and travel every time
you can to broaden your  knowledge. The result was a very full life. She graduated from UC Berkeley at the age of 19 by going 12 months a year during WWII. She married David Glen right after graduating and they had 3 children over the next 5 years. They moved to Pleasant Hill in 1948 and she lived here until her death.

Betsy was a school teacher, a world traveler and a writer. She did it all from from working on newspapers, creating poetry to writing memoirs.

Betsy was a long-time member of, the Guild, over 30 years.  Monica Kaseman shares, “She shared her love of quilting, writing, history and family with me when she rode with me to her last years of Guild meetings.  Her daughter shared with me the following:  Mom lead the fullest life possible, always willing to try new things, go on adventures in travel, was a great writer, teacher, mentor, and never a stranger to anyone.  Her warm, compassionate, empathetic nature made her friends to all who met her.”
