2021 GQCCC Quilt Show Entry Instructions

To enter your quilt, wearable or creative item in the Guild of Quilter’s of Contra Costa County’s (GQCCC) 2021 Quilt Show, complete the entry form. You must complete one entry form for each item entered in the show. Only five entries allowed per GQCCC member. Only GQCCC members can enter the quilt show. If you would like to enter the show you can join the guild by clicking here.

Deadline for submitting entering the show is Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 11:59 pm PST.

The deadline for entering the 2021 show is MARCH 21, 2021 at 11:59 pm.

  1. The preferred method of entering the show is by using our ON-LINE ENTRY FORM. If you do not have the ability to enter on-line yourself, you may ask a friend or family member to enter on-line for you.
  2. If you do not have any options to enter on-line, you may print out the Entry Form and mail or deliver it, along with the required photographs, to: Mary Pimentel-Wheeler, (address in member directory). Please mark the envelope “Quilt Entry Form”

  1. You must be a current member of GQCCC to enter the show.
  2. If you are not a current member and wish to enter a quilt, you may become a member by using our online membership form. Annual membership is $50 and is good through June 30, 2022. This offer is good only for new members submitting a quilt for entry in the show.
  3. There is a limit of 5 entries per member. Please include a priority number on the entry form if you are entering more than one quilt.
  4. Quilts will be displayed in category “groups” in the online quilt show gallery.  Please choose the most appropriate category group for your quilt.
  5. If a category receives 3 or fewer entries, the Guild reserves the right to re-categorize the entry into the most appropriate alternative category.
  6. The Guild reserves the right to select the quilts that will be displayed in the show. Every effort will be made to include at least one quilt from each member, using the priority designated on the Entry Form.  If a quilt is not selected for the show, the member will be notified before the show begins.

Because the 2021 show is on-line, the quilts will not be “judged” as they were during previous in-person shows.  For this show, we will depend on the viewers to select their favorites in each category.

  1. Viewers will be asked to vote for their favorite quilt in each category, plus one overall “Best in Show” quilt.
  2. First and Second place ribbons will be awarded in each category. A special Viewer’s Choice ribbon will be awarded for the overall ”Best in Show” favorite selected by the viewers.

You may attach no more than 5 photos per entry. Each picture can be up to 15mbs.

Entries with poor quality photos that will not show up well in an on-line gallery may be rejected. We will make every effort to notify you if your photo is not suitable, and you may resubmit additional photos for consideration.

For entries in the Hand or Machine Quilted categories, you must include at least one photo of the entire quilt and at least one photo of the quilting detail.

If you have a two-sided quilt, also include at least one picture of the back of the quilt.

For photos submitted online:

  • Save your digital photos in .jpg format, using the highest resolution you can without exceeding the file size limitation.
  • The minimum height of the photo needs to be 1000px (pixels).
  • Please name each of your photos as follows:
    • Initial and Last Name_quiltname_number
    • Use one word only for the quilt name, even if you must remove spaces.
    • Example:

For photos printed out and submitted by mail:

  • Please print on photo paper only, at the highest resolution you can achieve with your home printer. Entries submitted on plain paper or cardstock will not be accepted.
  • If you have your photo printed out commercially (i.e., Costco or Walgreens), request 4×6 or larger, glossy, “borderless” prints.
  • Write your name and the name of the quilt on the back of each photo.  If you are sending several pictures of the same quilt, please number the photos.

If you are racing against the entry deadline to get your project finished, just include a photo of the partially or substantially completed project with your entry form on or before March 21, 2021. Then, contact Mary Pimentel-Wheeler for further instructions on submitting your final photographs. Final photographs must be received prior to the show opening.
